YOUTH FIRST TEXAS COLLIN COUNTY
Are you a Mentor?
Someone who loves to help youth acquire new knowledge about themselves and their culture. Can inspire and encourage others by sharing life experiences, offer support and challenge youth to set goals.
We need you!
Mentors are needed to help Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered or Questioning youth to overcome the numerous negative stereotypes perpetuated by our society. Given exposure to positive role models, these young women and men are assisted in the development of improved self-esteem and positive self-worth. This kind of role modeling is critical to the healthy development of young people who struggle to accept their sexual or gender orientation in the face of strong family and societal disapproval.
If you are interested on how you may volunteer to become a mentor, send an email to .
PARENT GROUP
Have you ever:
- organized a birthday party for your child?
- organized a bake sale, rummage sale, or workshop?
- chaired a committee or held an office in college or an organization?
- served as the captain of a team sport?
If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions, or have taken on similar activities, you possess the skills needed to be a Parent co-lead. If you are interested in helping plan events or speakers on topics related to parenting, send an email to |
